I Read the Hunger Games in One Night, Was it Worth It?

Image
The motivation for this journey spiraled from a conversation in which my lack of reading the Hunger Games was mentioned, and my mother insulted me for not reading “pivotal works of literature for gen-Z.” So, for some reason that made more sense at the time, I made myself a challenge. I would read the entirety of the Hunger Games (first book) before I saw her the next day.  Now the first issue I encountered in this journey was getting hold of a book. I did not own a copy, it was far too late at night to go buy one, and it was crucial that I read it that night. Luckily, this issue was easily combated by the internet’s vast libraries and E-books (and I definitely didn’t just find an illegal PDF online).  Prior to starting the novel, I could tell it was going to be a rough start as it was already almost 1:00 am, and I knew I would have to lock in if I wanted to finish it in time to get some sleep.   Before the holiday break I published a part one to this book review. You should read that before reading this blog, but in a short summary the book kicks off with Ben Rich testing the first airplane that is designed to be stealth from the ground up after he has become the manager of the Skunk Works. Ben Rich has grown in the ranks at the Skunk Works, and is explaining the design process of the SR...

To get closer to accomplishing this goal, I thought it would be beneficial to cut down on procrastination so I can finish what I need to do quicker. With this in mind, I looked for a book that could give me words of wisdom. Right then I found a book called, Samurai Wisdom for Modern Times , an eBook which looked beneficial, interesting, and a quick read. The book had a very nice flow which made it easy for me to follow along. It first started with introducing the Bushido Code, the “way of the warrior”, which was a set of principle’s that samurai warriors followed during feudal Japan. Then the book went into each principle more deeply, discussing how it was shown in Japanese history, and how it is important in our daily lives. Finally, at the end of each principle’s section, the author writes multiple writing exercises to develop the certain principle. ...
