Etiquette and Espionage Book Review
Ediquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger is a book about a girl Sophronia, being forced by her mother to go to finishing school due to her atrocious manners. The fourteen year old girl gets into and out of, dangerous situations from the start of the book. She's also practically recruited by the headmistress of Mademoiselle Geraldine's finishing school, after Sophronia's "unladylike" skills are mentioned in conversation from her mother. She could be characterized as a tomboy.
I really reading this book, as it was very amusing and carefully worded to make you want to keep reading. Although I will say there were many words I had to search up because they were British slang, but knowing what they meant made the book much funnier. There were often cheeky remarks made by Sophronia which made me like her character even more. I also enjoyed the supernatural part of the book with vampires, werewolves, and a Hogwarts- esque school.
The book itself is set in a steampunk kind of world, where many things such as mechanical maids show the authors intent to make the set feel steampunk-y. I also found it fun that these girls go to a finishing school and learn how to kill someone, while still being proper. I love historical fiction and I feel like this book is a good mix of historical fiction, supernatural, and comedy. Although I did think some of the characters were pretty flat, the rest of the book and it's fascinating plot, setting, everything, made up for it.

This book sounds pretty interesting! I love complex settings (especially steampunk ones), along with funny main characters. Even if the characters aren't super interesting, I have read other books that sound similar to this one and enjoyed them. Thanks for this review, I think I might read this book!
